Vintage Styled Wedding Inspired by Family

From Sara of One Love Photography... Family is the most important thing to us; having our wedding reception at the same venue where my parents were married was a dream. We also worked hard to make the ceremony a reflection of our beliefs as a couple – the wedding took place in a glass chapel built by the son of one of our favorite architects, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We have spent the last ten years driving up and down the coast together, so it felt like home. The ceremony itself blended our humanist beliefs with some more traditional ceremonial aspects out of respect and appreciation for our parents and grandparents. See more from Art Is For Lovers in the full SMP gallery!

Bridal Portraits at Villa Del Lago Events Pavillion

Often in the South, brides choose to have formal bridal portraits taken. It can be so beneficial because the bride then knows how everything will look together on the day of her wedding. Such a fun tradition! For Jerika's bridals, we rented Villa Del Lago. Jerika absolutely loved the European elegance, it's romantic and natural vibe. Nestled on the edge of a hill overlooking Lake Travis outside of Austin, Villa Del Lago was the perfect setting for her bridal shoot. Jerika's father passed away briefly before her wedding, so she had one of his favorite ties sewn into her dress for her something blue. This sentimental touch, along with the architecture, the flowers and the waterfall all worked together to create such memorable bridal portraits. --  Jenna McElroy Photography

Lake Michigan Inspired Affair

The main reason that Sara and Eric decided on the Pilot House at Discovery World for their wedding reception was because of the incredible 360 degree views of Lake Michigan and Milwaukee’s beautiful Calatrava. From almost every spot in the room, you can see the blue waters of the lake with the Milwaukee skyline in the background. They were both insistent that when designing the overall look for their big day, the amazing views were showcased. Impressions by Esther Fleming created an assortment of all glass vessels that left unobstructed views of the lake. With natural light bouncing off the glass, the entire room took on a light, airy sparkle and the jewel -toned blooms helped create a feeling that was reminiscent of a lush fall garden. ~ The Bride Consultant

Elegant Wedding at Westchester Country Club Full of Surprises

Who doesn't like a good surprise? That's just what Jordan and Eric got when their floral-framed escort card board revealed a surprise painting of their beloved dog, Tucker. To the delight of all, Tucker also made an appearance at the wedding. Their guests were then surprised by personal letters written by their families awaiting them at their reception tables. The evening ended with a surprise fireworks display and a huge sign displaying the couple's names. See more of this enchanting wedding from Melani Lust Photography in the full gallery.

Magical Key West Wedding at The Southernmost House

Veronica and Robert were married at one of the most quaint and charming churches in Key West, Florida. They exchanged vows with church windows wide open, a lovely breeze and sunshine streaming through. After the ceremony they strolled through the city taking a variety of photos at the Truman Annex, Butterfly Conservatory, and the famous Key West Lighthouse. An intimate, coastal wedding reception followed at the Southernmost House. As the sun was setting off the water and the sky was painted beautifully, guests ate and enjoyed the Mansions backyard overlooking the Sea. It was pure magic and romance! ... When they got home, with the help of Lauren Field Design, they planned an intimate wedding filled with meaning and purpose. Stunning floral design by Clementine Botanical Art added to the modern yet natural vibe of the celebration. Katie Webb captured the excitement and joy of this special day. Sarah was on a date with another guy and when Matt set eyes on her, he did everything he could to get her attention. Their relationship was long distance for much of their time dating and August 2016 Matt proposed in a hot air balloon ride. Their winter wedding was on another level!

How To Save Money on Destination Weddings

How To Save Money on Destination Weddings

As a wedding planner, you should be prepared to coordinate events of all shapes and sizes. While many couples are willing to stay local, and are open to suggestions about your go-to venues, caterers and vendors, others are looking to tie the knot abroad.

Destination wedding planning is an entirely different ball game, and among other obstacles, maintaining budget can be tricky while trying to coordinate a dream event that includes travel and lodging expenses. So before all these extra amenities start to topple your financial plan, reference this list of moneysaving tips for destination weddings:

How to Save Money on Destination Weddings

Shop Package Deals

Travel and hospitality is an industry jam-packed with package deal options. Try to find a package that bundles several necessary amenities and offers them all at one discounted rate- think airfare, lodging, car rental, even some excursions or tours if possible.

When it comes to destination weddings, remember that guests are making sacrifices and spending a substantial amount of money to be there for the couple. It’s considered best etiquette to provide those guests with some organized group activity options. The more you can get some of those activities included in your bundled rate, the better.

Travel Off-Peak

If the couple is flexible with their date, try to convince them to pick something off-season. You’ll save a great deal of money in transportation and hotel costs if you’re willing to make this timing adjustment.

If saving money is a priority for your couple, you should absolutely avoid holidays, and that includes ones celebrated specifically at the destination location as well. Let’s say they’re hoping to get married in Sao Paulo, for example. February might seem like an off-season time to visit, but for half of that month, flights and hotels for that location are much higher because of their Carnival street party celebrations. So be smart and do your research, then try to pick a time when visiting your given location comes at a more low-key, off-season time.
