Two Pilots Tied the Knot With an Urban Chic Wedding

This bride and groom, who just so happen to both be licensed pilots, made sure their wedding day was not only timelessly chic, but deeply personal. As a nod to their love of flying, pairs of wings served as escort cards, and guests were given helicopter propellers to launch over the dance floor as they partied through the night. A vendor dream team, including Jose VillaLaurie AronsKathleen Deery, Elysium Productions, and many more worked their magic behind the scenes and we’re happily spending the rest of our day scrolling through the gallery.

From Laurie Arons Special EventsMariya & Greg were fun, creative clients who wanted to create a cool and intimate vibe for their city wedding in San Francisco. Held at a private club downtown, the couple took advantage of the building’s uniquely designed spaces to create a progression of experiences for their guests.

They were married in an outdoor courtyard on the club’s main level, surrounded by their 75 closest friends and family members. Floral designer Kathleen Deery constructed an impressive floral arch at the alter, full of abundant spring blooms in their March wedding. Their ceremony was personalized with out of the box music & special family traditions, making it one of the most heart-felt ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.

Following the vows, guests were invited inside for cocktails, where they found their inventive escort cards…because Mariya & Greg had learned to fly helicopters together and recently became licensed pilots, guests were assigned a pair of wings for their table numbers. After enjoying an three-course dinner and series of hilarious speeches, guests made their way into an adjacent bar for a chill set of music by acoustic guitarist & singer Chris Clouse. They relaxed with their guests while sipping champagne and craft cocktails.

To cap off the evening, guests were invited back to Mariya & Greg’s penthouse for dancing. Chris Clouse switched roles to DJ the party, and was joined by electric guitarist Dave Kim for a great mix of live and recorded music. Guests were given helicopter propellers to launch over the dance floor, another nod to the couple’s favorite & unique hobby.
