Ask anyone who knows me well and they’ll tell you that I’m a lover of neutrals. Whether it’s my home, my style, and even weddings. But that’s not because I shy away from color, it’s more that I crave a good fresh backdrop to layer on those subtle hues. Especially when it comes to Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2017: greenery. That’s exactly why this shoot from Linen & Lilac has me wide-eyed. Ready to lose yourself in all the pretty? Join me in The Vault with these stunner images from Sorella Muse!
From Linen + Lilac… Inspired by Pantone’s color of the year, Greenery, we sought to create a refined inspiration that combined a clean modern feel and sophisticated color palette with a nod to old-world European romance.
By keeping all the design elements neutral in color, the greenery is really allowed to pop without overwhelming the space, which is our favorite way to incorporate Pantone’s color of 2017. But neutrals don’t have to mean boring if you also utilize different textures. For example, the natural textures of the slate stone chargers contrast with the old world elegance of the vintage fine silver and bone flatware alongside silver accented glassware. While the hues of the tablescape are modern and minimal, the varied textures create visual interest. Balancing the formality of the flatware and table setting, we chose a simple knotted linen napkin to lay asymmetrically on the plate, accommodating the custom vellum menus created by Bowerbird Atelier. The elegant centerpiece brings in the Pantone’s choice of greenery with soft green hues accented by winter blooms, and is set asymmetrically to help facilitate easy conversation among guests seated across from each other. Tall grey taper candles and layered smaller arrangements balance out the tablescape.
The bride’s two piece skirt and lace top from Lace and Bustle is both contemporary and elegant while the long veil and blusher bring in the classic European romance, all accented by simple heirloom style jewelry from Susie Saltzman.
We think the best fine art inspiration walks the line between old and new, formal and unfussy, simplicity and luxuriousness. One of the best aspects of this year’s Pantone color is that it’s versatility means it can be incorporated with so many different wedding color palettes. So whether you’re going dark and moody or light and bright, sticking to pastel hues or vibrant jewel tones, consider adding this year’s Pantone color in to your design vision!
