4 Reasons to Let Your Groom Plan the Honeymoon

Invitations, flowers, and escort cards. OH MY! Feeling overwhelmed? We totally get it. Planning a wedding is no easy task. But after the wedding comes the well-deserved honeymoon. And what better way to start your marriage than with a romantic trip planned oh-so-perfectly—just like your big day.

Read on to see why handing over honeymoon duty to your husband-to-be might just be the best idea you’ve ever had…

He Wants a Task Too
If you’re the kind of bride who is hands-on, doing-it-all-yourself, let your groom take care of something equally as important. “While Liz welcomed my opinion on anything, there wasn’t anything else where I was really taking the lead on planning,” said newly-married Rob DuCharme. “Taking care of the honeymoon and all of the planning felt like a good way to be directly involved in something during the process.” Bottom line, your groom will appreciate being tasked with something meaningful.

The Opportunity for Surprise
Don’t forget that the honeymoon is really a way to kick off your marriage—and yes, that means starry-eyed celebrations are in order. “When the groom plans the honeymoon, he can truly become a romantic,” said Jennifer of VIP Vacations. “Candlelight dinners, scenic wine tastings, rose petal turn down services, champagne on balconies are all little features that can be added.”

Stress-Free Planning
With everything else you have on your plate, let your hubby-to-be take the reins so you can worry about all those other little wedding-day details. “My wife and her mom did a lot of planning for the wedding, and I wanted everything to be carefree and stress-free as soon as our honeymoon started,” said just-married Benjamin Dalton. “Planning the honeymoon was part thanking her for all the time she put into the wedding and part showing her how special she is to me.”

Try Something New
Whether your hubby-to-be is a seasoned traveler or not, letting him plan the honeymoon might open the door to new and exciting adventures—things you may not have even thought of, like an old museum in Paris, a hot restaurant, or a snorkeling trip to a remote island. And who knows, this new adventure may become an annual tradition you both love—a fun discovery from your first days of marriage.
