The ‘Something Old’ That Moved This Grandma-Of-The-Bride to Tears

The look on this grandmother’s face? It’s absolutely everything. It’s the reaction to seeing her granddaughter, Shannon wearing the wedding dress she wore 50 years earlier as Shannon walked down the aisle. Emily Steffen captured these sweet moments worth a thousand words and we’re taking cues from this bride and honoring mothers (and grandmothers!) everywhere today on SMP. Mamas, let’s raise a glass to you!

From Emily Steffen PhotographyGrandma’s first glimpse of Shannon as she came around the corner wearing her 50-year-old wedding dress brought her to tears. Her hand clasped over her mouth and her eyes filled with tears as she looked at her husband out of the corner of her eye. Grandma couldn’t get the awe and wonder off her face the rest of the night…she was elated that Shannon chose to wear such a precious piece of her story into the beginning of their own! :)

Shannon and Dave planned a FABULOUS day filled with meaningful traditions, favorite family recipes (YAY for midwestern salads, yum) and loads of love! And Norskedalen was the perfect location for their big day; lush with greenery, tall trees and the most wonderful open space for their outdoor dance party under as the strung lights and twinkling stars in the warm summer night sky!
