Elegant Summer Wedding at The Stanley Hotel

Some weddings have a shining star, that one element that takes center stage… and then others are filled to the brim with those sorts of special touches… and this one right here is of the later. The soft gray bridesmaids’ dresses may have drawn me in, but it was the beautiful bouquets by Bella Lu Floral and the bow on the back of the Bride’s gown (courtesy of Little White Dress Bridal Shop) that left me speechless. Sarah Joelle snapped all the sparkle and this gallery just made my day a whole lot brighter.

From Sarah Joelle Photography… Scott and Zoe are an easy going couple who both live in Los Angeles where they work in the TV industry. They decided to plan a destination wedding in Colorado where Zoe grew up. They choose the Stanley Hotel, where Zoe envisioned a classic, romantic wedding and hoped it would be filled with love and fun for their friends and family… I think that is exactly what she got! They incorporated colors of white, blush, natural greens, golds, and pops of dark burgundy. I absolutely love how well all the colors went together without being entirely matching. The florals by Bella Lu Floral were soft and romantic with greenery giving it a natural touch. Scott and Zoe had a large bridal party including eight bridesmaids, two junior bridesmaids, two bridal attendants, five groomsmen, two ushers, as well as a precious little ringbearer and flower girl, which made for some very elegant bridal party photos with the bridesmaids in long flowy gowns and the groomsmen in formal black tuxedos.

The ceremony was late in the afternoon during the golden hours of the evening. It was a gorgeous outdoor setting in front of the elegant Stanley Hotel with views of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The groomsmen walked in first from the side, then each bridesmaid walked down the aisle. A string trio played music in the background. Zoe had the most unique and dramatic entrance I have ever seen. Right after all the bridal party had entered and was in place. An entire choir of about 40 walked out and filled in on either side of the large main stairway of the hotel entrance. They started singing and the doors opened as Zoe walked out, through the choir, and down the aisle to her groom. Zoe’s mother, Cindy, is the Vocal Music Director for Colorado Academy and her students wanted to do a special performance for Zoe’s wedding. It was very special indeed!

Zoe was very specific that she didn’t want the wedding to have a specific theme or color palette. They did incorporate some travel details though. Instead of table numbers, the tables had city names… since they work in the TV industry and travel a lot each city was a place where their love had grown! The place settings were leather luggage tags that were also the favors for their guests.

From the Bride… Oh, just you’re regular love story… we met on the set of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition where I worked as a locations assistant and he was the camera engineer. I was fresh into the TV industry and he was a veteran and was pretty adorable. He asked me out, I said yes. We adopted two of the most amazing dogs, Kaleigh Jo and Maddie Lynne. The rest is history.

From the Couple… Zoe had always wanted to go to New York City during the holiday season to experience Christmas there. Scott surprised her by taking her for a romantic getaway. After arriving into the city late Friday night, we strolled down Times Square and of course went straight for pizza. Exhausted from the flight, we decided to get some shut eye to get ready for an exciting day ahead, touring the city. We woke up early and left the hotel, which was right in the heart of Rockefeller Center, and went straight to Dean and Deluca (my favorite:)). After breakfast and coffee, we cruised directly to Fifth Ave. The window displays, lights, people, Christmas carolers, EVERYTHING was perfect, just us two taking in all the sights and smells. After a couple of hours, we went to The Plaza for drinks, so we could handle the crowds on Fifth Ave with ease. We strolled through Central Park, and as expected got a little cold and hungry so we started heading back up Fifth Ave to our hotel. We ate dinner at an amazing restaurant that overlooked Rockefeller Center and its amazing tree. After we stuffed our faces with food and drinks, we changed quickly and walked down the street to Radio City Music Hall. Ever since Zoe was a little girl, she had been obsessed with the Rockettes and had always admired them, so Scott took her to see the Radio City Rockettes: Christmas Spectacular! After the amazing show, they decided to get coffee and walk around the city looking at all the Christmas lights. Scott had the ring in his pocket the entire day, and was just waiting to pop the question when the time was right. He then got VIP tickets to go ice skating in Rockefeller Center, where it started to snow and rain while we skated to Christmas music, it was like out of a dream. After the most amazing day, they headed back to the hotel, where he got down on one knee and popped the question. Zoe and Scott cried and were obviously on cloud nine, when friends and family were standing by awaiting that phone call, as they all knew. It was a dream, a perfect “Zoe and Scott” proposal, that they will remember forever.
