#SMPWedding101 – How to Achieve a Bridal Glow

Oh, how we all lust after that infamous glow that the celebs (J.Lo I’m looking at you!) always seem to wear so nonchalantly… but m’dears the secret is out, all thanks to The Hair & Makeup Company’s words of wisdom. Makeup artist Sarah Nicole is sharing the easy steps that we all can take to become that beaming, blushing bride on our special day and all of our days after.

Tip #1 | HYDRATE YOUR SKIN & USE A GOOD FACE CREAM

Embryolisse makes one of the best face lotions around for all skin types called Lait-Crème Concentrè. M.A.C also makes a great face lotion called Mineralize that contains minerals that act as a humectant and lock in all skin moisture. Both products leave a natural glow to the skin and prep it for the perfect foundation.

Tip #2 | USE THE RIGHT FOUNDATION FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE

Every skin type is different so it’s really important to find a foundation that works for you. Kevyn Aucoin makes an incredible skin enhancer that works for several skin types and textures. As a makeup artist, I have found that I can use this foundation for both dry and oily skin. The key is to place a small amount on a brush (M.A.C makes a great foundation brush for this) or any brush that contains nylon or synthetic strands. Less is always more with this generous foundation. The great thing about this product is it can be used to create a very natural look or you can build it up and have a heavier coverage depending on what your preference is. I always tend to use two different colors from this line – one for all over that matches my skin tone and one a shade or two lighter under my eyes as a concealer. YES – a product that you can use for foundation and a concealer! This is a must and my go-to foundation every time!

Tip #3 | HIGHLIGHT YOUR CHEEKBONES FOR THAT GLOW

This is my favorite part of this process! There are so many products out there that promise to give us all the JLO glow and I have tried them all only to find that they are to harsh, separate my foundation, or don’t work at all… until I tried BECCA Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector. This is the perfect glow and comes in different shades. I use Moonstone and have found that this shade works beautifully for all skin types and tones. Place product on your hand, take a fluffy brush and move product around on your brush then place on your cheekbones by patting or making a circular motion until product is blended in.

Tip #4 | POWDER & BLUSH

The key to having the perfect bridal glow is to make sure it is in the right places. Take a powder and with a fluffy brush, place it on your t-zone. You want your skin to look dewy and flawless but not oily, so placing a bit of powder on your forehead, nose, and chin is key to obtaining this look. M.A.C makes a mineralized pressed powder that lays beautifully over any foundation. Take your favorite blush and apply for a bit of color – soft peach tones and pinks are perfect for a bridal look.

Tip #5 | FINISH WITH A SETTING SPRAY

NYX makes a dewy finish setting spray that makes your makeup last all day and holds everything in place! I love this product and see a huge difference in my makeup when I use this as a last step.
