Behind the Designer: Love Veils

I wore my veil for just a short time during my wedding day, but for that time, floating around with lace hugging my curls made me 100% feel like a beautiful Bride. I’m so glad I made that decision and my smile still lights up every time I peruse veils and accessories in THE VAULT. But what I love even more? Getting to know those designers and what makes them tick. Today, we’re going behind the beauty of Love Veils with the charming Cori Peirce!

What was your inspiration for this collection?

The Woodland Mosaic Garden at Denver Botanic Gardens. There is a beyond amazing turquoise and glass greenhouse nestled in the most romantic garden you’ve ever seen. I’ve always wanted to shoot some pieces there, and we finally did this season!

Who is your customer/woman?

Our customer is busy, style savvy and always lovely, usually with a clear vision of how she wants to look on her wedding day. She wants her accessories to complement her dress AND her personality.

What is your favorite piece in this collection?

I’m indecisive, so this is a challenging question … the Jasper veil … and Sheridan veil. Ha!

If you could accessorize any woman (past and present) in your designs, who would it be and why?

Hands down it would be my grandmother Corinne. She was truly the epitome of style and grace, always accessorized perfectly too. I was named after her, and she is the Peirce in Cori Peirce (her maiden name). We always had a special bond. Her wedding picture is framed and hanging at my house, and I would love to have seen her in one of my veils or fascinators.

What do you think the accessory trends will be this season?

I think we’re going to see statement pieces – statement lace and embroidery on veils and cover-ups.

If you could give Brides one piece of fashion advice, what would it be?

Harness your personal everyday style on your wedding day. Gown designers are doing so many amazing things right now. Make your friends say “Oh, that is so YOU” when they see you walk down the aisle.

What is one accessory trend you’d love to see a revival of?

Flower crowns have been revived, and I love it. Taking a nod from the Ancient Greeks all the way to the flower children of the 60’s … flower crowns and hair ribbons can still work with a veil, AND they are the perfect accessory if you want to wear your hair down with dreamy soft curls. Our Torrey crown is one of my favorite pieces for 2016.

An everyday bag that makes you feel put together even when you’re not.

If you could buy yourself a single gift of any cost, what would it be?

A fully potty trained, well behaved puppy that doesn’t like to chew on furniture … or shoes!

Your secret to success?

Keeping my customer in mind when I’m designing and simply working hard.

Number one accessory tip?

Wear a veil on your wedding day! It doesn’t need to be the traditional veil if that’s not your thing … a pout blusher, flower crown, hair ribbon … something that says “I’m the bride” on your head just like your wedding dress does.

What’s a typical work day for you like?

We’re a small company, and I wear a lot of hats: designer, production manager, veil maker, janitor, marketing director, you name it! I typically start and end my day on the computer, confirming orders and corresponding with my retailers and vendors. In between there, I work on custom designs/orders and try to help my production assistants with order fulfillment.

Your most memorable moment in business?

Having our San Francisco headpiece on the cover of Bride’s Magazine Spring 2013 was a big thrill. My daughter was only a couple of week’s old, so I was a bit of a basket case, but it was a great memory.

The best advice you’ve ever received?

Trust your gut. In business, and in life, especially with being a mom … best advice ever.

Do you have any secret talents?

Does online shopping count? That’s kind of a secret before the boxes show up on your front porch!
