From The Bride… Kevin and I met in October of 2013, his sister-in-law and my roommate conspired and set us up on blind date. They really do work! After a few pleasantry texts, we scheduled our date for October 10th at Yogurtland. Come to find out later, his sister-in-law was constructing his text messages and my roommate drafted mine so they essentially had a nice conversation setting everything up. He picked me up that night around eight and we spent the next three hours chatting over frozen yogurt, none of which I ate because I still in the “girls don’t eat in front of their date” phase. Needless to say, it was a great first date and we had our second the next week.

We got engaged on February 18, 2015 and immediately started planning our big day. We luckily flew to Nashville the day after we got engaged and so we were able to look at a few venues since I was determined to get married in my hometown. We both fell in love Cheekwood and when we found out they had an opening for late August we immediately booked it. The theme for our wedding revolved around our venue and was set as a “romantic garden dinner party”. We really wanted the florals from Kelly Lenard to be our main focal point so we focused on creating a space that would enhance her work. To tie in my southern roots, the catering was classically southern with appetizers of shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes and entrees of fried chicken with whipped sweet potatoes. The main focus of our wedding though was not the food or flowers, but truly celebrating the joining of two families with our closest friends.

Our actual wedding day was absolutely perfect. I’m sure everyone says that but I truly mean it. We had the absolute best team, friends and family supporting us and truly making our day so special. We had the blessing of being sealed in the Nashville, Tennessee Temple before heading to Cheekwood for the Ring Ceremony and Reception later that night. The best part of the day was just being able to just relax and enjoy the reception and watch the array of dance moves happening throughout the night.
