Bouquet Breakdown: Autumn Red Charm Bouquet

This statement from Cheeky Details really resonated with me: We feel that a bridal bouquet should tell a story about the person that is holding it. Just like a dress or a hairstyle, a bouquet is an artful accessory and an extension of your Big Day look. It’s why we love our Bouquet Breakdown series—we get a little peek into each masterpiece and what makes it personal. Read on for this red charmer recipe, captured by Caroline Frost!

Autumn Red Charm Bouquet

  • 2 Red Charm Peonies
  • 2 Pink Fairy’s Petticoat Peonies
  • 3 Pink O’Hara Garden Roses
  • 5 Blushing Bride Protea
  • 4 Black Cosmos
  • Jasmine Vine
  • Feather Eucalyptus
  • TONS of of ivory, blush, and peach hand dyed silk ribbon a la Frou Frou Chic

From Cheeky DetailsWe had conceptualized this shoot as being a soft, graceful daydream with a pop of the unexpected. The pale pink and cream palette is so popular and we completely understand why. We typically gravitate towards that look, but wanted to mix in a little edge; enter the Red Charm Peony. It is such a unique color because while it may look just Red to some, it consists of so many different tones that make its color truly unique (which was perfect). We knew right away that we wanted to feature a ballerina which amazingly turned the whole thing into a whimsical dance overall. Of course, we needed her bouquet to carry over the feel of a ribbon wand for movement. We used three different colors, cut them into super long pieces and layered them so that they would catch the wind as our ballerina bride was moving with it. The florals that made up the bouquet itself were a mix of large (peonies, garden roses) and small (cosmos, blushing bride protea) and very wispy, rambling foliage which created a ton of texture. The pinks, creams and green colors that made up the majority of the bouquet were muted and delicate to keep with our graceful aesthetic, but the pop of red was magic especially paired with our ballerina’s beautiful dark locks. It was so much fun to dream all of this up and watch it come to life.

We feel that a bridal bouquet should tell a story about the person that is holding it. When we sit down with our bride to discuss what her bouquet will look like, we want to know their favorite flowers and colors; what they love, what they are not fans of. Some love trailing ribbon and some want to stay as far away from it as possible. Some LOVE bright and loud while others only want soft and simple. We love the differences because it allows us to create unique works of art that are full of heart. Nothing is better in floral artistry than seeing a bride’s face light up with love when she sees her bouquet for the first time. We strive for that reaction each and every time.
