Ladies, the time has come to mention the unmentionables,. Because today is the day that we’re giving you an inside scoop on what exactly to wear underneath that gorg gown. And while the illusion of effortless is only elevated when you keep em’ guessing, luckily we won’t have to (guess that is), because we’ve got the ever-so-lovely Julianne Smith of The Garter Girl sharing a few go-to favs below!
From The Garter Girl… You’ve searched high and low for that perfect wedding dress (or two!), but what else do you need? The wedding day fashion doesn’t stop with the dress.
Lingerie
Really consider the style and cut of your wedding dress before you purchase any wedding day lingerie. You might be better off saving the lingerie for your wedding night! Look for seamless lingerie so nothing shows through. And, if your wedding dress is sheer, a simple full-length slip will be your best friend.
Corset
Depending on the style of your wedding dress, you might need a corset to keep everything up and in. Proper fit by a professional is critical. Wear that corset around before your wedding day, so you know what you are getting yourself into on the big day.
Panties
If your wedding dress is altered to fit you right, a comfortable pair of panties might just be all that you need under your dress on your wedding day. Look for a lacey blue pair and you’ll have your tradition covered too!
Shoes
A fabulous pair of wedding shows is is a no-brainer, unless you are going barefoot on the beach! When selecting wedding shoes, be mindful of any sparkles or buckles that could get caught in the tulle or lining of your dress as you walk. A ripped lining from the crystals on your shoes spells disaster!
Hosiery
Your wedding day is a great time to skip the hosiery and the tights. Save these for the office; it is hot under that wedding dress!
Shapewear
Depending on the style of your dress, you might need shapewear to support you on your wedding day. Be sure to shop for shapewear with your dress so that you can try both on together at the same time. Snap a few pictures of yourself with the shapewear and the dress so you can see what it will look like together.
Garter
If you are going to wear a wedding garter, make sure you try it on before your wedding day to ensure the proper fit. Remember, the tossing garter goes below your main garter. Or skip the toss all together and just get the garter to wear and then save.
