Lavender French’s Point, Maine Wedding

This Style Me Pretty-loving Bride and her Groom have one of the cutest love stories you’ve ever heard. She, a college student working part-time helped him, a handsome customer, pick out a tie at the local Vineyard Vines store…and the rest is history. They settled on a destination wedding in Maine, and brought on Emily Blake to tell the story of their day. Watch it all unfold in The Vault.

From The Bride… I fell in love with Josh at first sight. I was working part time at the Prudential Center Vineyard Vines store when I was a senior at BU, and he came in to buy a tie – the rest is history. We knew from the first moment we would be together forever.

When it came time to plan our wedding, we knew that we wanted a destination wedding, as neither of us is particularly connected to our hometown. We had traveled to Maine a few times together as a couple, and both felt totally at peace there – the state motto is “Vacationland,” and it’s the perfect way to describe the feeling of Maine! We found French’s Point through Style Me Pretty, and immediately knew it would be the perfect venue for our wedding. All of our vendors were truly the best of the best, and we couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out.

The vision for the wedding really began with one key element: our crest. We worked with the amazing Kearsley Lloyd to have our custom watercolor crest made, and it really defined the rest of the look and feel for the wedding itself. The color palette was made up of gray, cream, and green, all of which looked so beautiful with the natural landscape around us. Based on Kearsley’s design, I actually designed and needlepointed Josh’s belt myself!

The day of the wedding, the weather was absolutely perfect – not a cloud in the sky. The ceremony was set on the green lawn, overlooking Penobscot Bay with 180 degree ocean views. I walked down the aisle to a beautiful acoustic version of Train’s “Marry Me,” and I was in tears from the first note. The ceremony was so meaningful and full of so much love – our rabbi told us afterwards that she couldn’t believe how present we were.

The reception was also held at French’s Point, inside the tent. The wedding party, as well as Josh and I, walked into the reception wearing foam Vineyard Vines whale hats as a fun nod to where we got our start. It was the perfect, easy, relaxed evening we had hoped for – guests ate, drank, and danced the night away.

Josh and I put so much love into every detail of our wedding, and it turned out to be the perfect celebration for us.
