Wonder by Jenny Packham at David’s Bridal + A Q&A!

Guys, Jenny Packham is a genius… I don’t need to tell you that.  So when David’s Bridal called with an exclusive invite to view her debut collection, Wonder, we literally threw on our party pants. What awaited us?  A seriously stunning lineup of gowns from the designer that knows everything about glamour and elegance.  Scroll below for your very own sneak peek… and a Q&A with Jenny herself!

SMP: Tell us about your new collection, Wonder by Jenny Packham. What was your inspiration? What are some of the design details you used?

JP: The collection is inspired the ‘Belle Epoque’ era of the early 20th Century. It is a collection of romantically soft, feminine designs that encapsulate the spirit of Edwardian style at a time when society abandoned corsets and Art Nouveau was born.

The styles are very delicate with light beading and understated, flowing silhouettes that are evocative of that era, alongside more contemporary structured shapes, elegantly exposed backs and geometric embellishment for a very modern bride.

SMP: Who is the Wonder by Jenny Packham bride? How does she want to look on her wedding day?

JP: I believe the collection speaks to a bride who feminine, elegant and contemporary. She is drawn towards artisanal details and appreciates fine craftsmanship. She is looking for a relaxed, unstructured gown that makes her feel confident and beautiful.

SMP: What should brides keep in mind once they’ve selected their gown and are completing their bridal look?

JP: Accessories are the perfect way to add something special, a lovely detail to finish your bridal look. Choose pieces that are personal to you and remember, less is often more.

SMP: What are your favorite things for a bride to use as her Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue?

JP: When I got married, my something new and my something blue was my dress – I wore a grey blue guipure lace dress. I wore my Mother’s antique locket bracelet (my something borrowed) and an old 16th century sixpence coin in my shoe for luck. I wasn’t a conventional bride, but loved these sentiments.

SMP: One word you’d use to describe your collection?

JP: Desirable.

SMP: Name one Bride that you would’ve loved to dress.

JP: Lady Diana, but I was only 14!

SMP: How does designing Bridal differ from outfitting celebrities?

JP: I enjoy the challenge of designing something that has to be unique and special.

SMP: What’s one thing you always keep in mind when designing for your Bride?

JP: I believe a bride should feel like the most beautiful version of herself and when I am working on a gown, I am always considerate of the way the cut, draping and beading will best enhance her.

SMP: Any piece of advice for a bride who is shopping for their dream dress?

JP: Good underwear and an honest friend!
