#BridalBeautyBreakdown: Golden Girl Glam

Whether it’s from the sunshine, the laid-back attitude, or perfectly applied makeup, California girls seem to have a glow about them. And today, Meagan Brown from Juna Beauty is here to teach you all the tricks to keep your summer glow well into the fall using the gorgeous look below as inspiration. When you’re done, you’ll be looking as pretty as the Sally Pinera inspiration session that started it all!

GET THE LOOK

Skin

This look started with fresh, clean skin.  One of the most important steps you can take before applying your makeup is moisturizing the skin—this allows the makeup to blend with your skin and look as realistic as possible. When applying foundation, wait no longer then 10 minutes after you apply your moisturizer. For long lasting results, always start with your liquid makeup first in the following order: concealer, liquid foundation, liquid bronzer, liquid blush, then liquid illuminator. Use a concealer first to conceal any discoloration or blemishes, remembering to always conceal blemishes last. Apply the concealer with your fingertips to help blend into the skin for a natural look. Use a foundation one shade lighter then your skin tone for highlighting, only applying to the areas of skin that are still bare. Avoid foundations with non-flash-friendly ingredients, like titanium dioxide, zinc, paba and zinc oxide.

Cheeks

Use a liquid bronzer to contour under your cheekbones, and keep in mind, less is more. Contouring should be subtle, it’s all about an illusion. Then, apply a cream blush on top of the cheekbones and build up color for long-lasting results. Reapply powder blush on top of cream blush, powder illuminator on top of the cheekbones and powder bronzer below the cheekbones. Finally set your face with loose, matte powder, being sure to cover the top of your eyelids as well.

Eyes

Start by applying a cream shadow or eyeshadow pencil along the base of the lid, smudging in an upward motion until blended. Then, layer starting with lightest tone powder shadows to darkest; gradually applying less of the darkest color along the base of the lid. Finish with a tight, thin liner at the base of the lid with waterproof mascara and a set of lashes.

Brows

Always fill the brows lightly with a pencil or gel first, then brush through with a wand to even out any inconsistencies. Then brush into the brow hair a powder brow shadow, back and fourth through the brow to give a natural look. Finish with another brush through with a wand.

Lips

Be sure to hydrate your lips with a good lip balm 10 minutes prior to applying lip products. Start with a pencil lipliner and fill in your lips completely. Blot and reapply. Blot once more, and add lipstick on top to finish your long-lasting lip.
