As a little girl, my favorite color was pink. And, even though I’ve grown up, and pink is no longer my favorite color, I’m completely obsessed with this sweet pink makeup look from Liz Wegrzyn. The rosy cheek, soft smokey eye and petal pink lip work together to create a delicate and romantic look. And you can trust that I’ll be recreating it for myself using the tips and products below!
GET THE LOOK
Skin
It’s so important to start with a base when you are applying your makeup. When painting your living room you would use a primer for your walls before you begin to paint! It’s the same principle when it comes to makeup—and, prepping the skin makes for a more flawless application. Make sure your skin is completely clean and exfoliated so that all the dead skin on your face is off and ready to have products applied. Then start with a moisturizer. For dry skin, use a hydrating lotion or rich cream formula; for oily skin, use an oil-free or gel-based moisturizer, and then apply a primer once your moisturizer is dry, like the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. It mattes down the skin and smooths out fine lines and large pores.
Concealer + Foundation
To recreate this look, use Koh Gen Do Moisture foundation High Definition. A little goes a long way with this flawless liquid/cream foundation. You only need two or three pearl-size drops for your entire face. Use a blender to apply the foundation in tapping and rolling motions to blend and press into the skin. The tapping and rolling movement of the sponge will make the foundation press into the skin more, which creates a finish that mimics your skin. Then, apply a concealer under the eyes and to any blemishes or discoloration the foundation did not cover. You’ll find that starting with foundation first, and not concealer, will help you to not have to use as much product as the foundation usually will cover up those minor imperfections. Now your skin is prepped and ready to go!
Cheeks + Highlighting
This beautiful bride’s look consisted of a very subtle cream blush by MAC Cosmetics Cremeblend Blush in Ladyblush. Cream blush creates the look of a pinched cheek rather then a strong color sweeping across the cheek bone. When applying the cream blush, you only need a little bit. Start by dabbing your beauty blender with the narrow side going into the product. Apply to your face in a tapping motion just on the ball of your cheek and move up along the cheek bone once most of the product is applied to the ball of cheek. Blend until it looks soft and subtle. Cream blush is build-able, so if you don’t feel there is enough color, just keep adding more, little by little until you have your desired look. Next, highlighter. Try High Beam by Benefit—this stuff goes a long way, so less is definitely more in this case. Open the bottle and apply the brush to your index finger and dab the product onto your temples and bring down to the spot just above your cheek bone. Do this on both sides of your face and dab a bit on the bridge of your nose, cuspids bow, and chin. This effect with make you glow in certain lights when hitting your skin.
Brows
Brows are the key to framing your face. If your hair is fair, try a light color brow powder duo like Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Powder Duo in Taupe . You can mix the two colors or use one shade depending on your brow color. Use an angle brush to apply the product and paint the color on by following the natural hair growth of the brows using sweeping motions. Less is also more with this step. Start off with less product and build as you go.
Eyes
For this look you want to start off with an eyeshadow base like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Apply a small amount to both eyelids and blend in with your finger using a tapping motion. Then, apply a layer of eyeshadow using a flat brush like the MAC 239 brush. Only apply this color on the base of your eye below the crease. Press the color onto the lid, but do not sweep it on. Then, apply a layer of the colors pinkish hues like MAC’s Yogurt and on top of the color you just applied. Next, using a 217 brush by MAC, add definition to your eyelid by sweeping a golden brown into the crease of your eye. Take the same brush and apply a deeper brown color into the outer corner of your eyes in small circular movements, bringing the color into the crease slightly but only in the outer corner. Now your shadow is done!
Next, the eyeliner. Use an angle brush like the 263 brush by MAC. Dip the brush into a cream gel eyeliner and then, make sure the brush is flat on both sides so that the line is clean as you apply the liner to your eye. Apply in small motions and not one line to avoid bumps or imperfections along the lashline. Bring the brush all the way to the end of the eye and flick up to create the cat eye effect. For the bottom of the eye, take a brown pencil eyeliner and add it to the outer corner of the eye about a quarter of the way to the center. Final touch? Apply a vigorous amount of your favorite water proof mascara and you are good to go!
Lips
Use a lip color that creates a soft feminine look like a soft pink. Tap the color onto your lips and blend for a pouty, natural look. Finish with a little bit of gloss in a similar shade to create the look of shine and softness.
