As a wedding blogger, sometimes I feel like I’ve seen it all. But then a day like this comes along, and I’m left awed and inspired like never before. It takes passionate vendors like AE Creative to pull off a destination wedding in remote Oregon, all while bringing a salvaged barn back to life. And while I could go on forever about the rustic design moments, or the sweeping countryside views, my favorite element comes down to the two-piece dress designed for the bride exclusively by Prada. It’s an absolute work of art, and you can see so much more in the gallery by Marina Koslow.
From AE Creative… This wedding was a passion project for all involved! Pulling this wedding off meant installing electrical and a floor in the 100+ year old salvaged barn and requesting that guests fly over 2,000 miles, rent a car, then drive 3 more hours to a small town with under 2,000 residents all for this amazing destination Oregon wedding. The sheep farm and property belongs to the groom and his family. They have been coming to Oregon for many many years and spending summers here. When the groom, Tim, first brought Lily to the property he promised her that the getting there part would be hard, but once there it would be worth it. When Lily first saw the property she agreed, and jokingly requested that they never go home. Come an engagement and the two couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. They wanted to share this special place with all of their New York (and beyond) family and friends.
This wedding took a lot of planning and creativity to pull off. A water truck and bathrooms were brought in, a sink installed for the catering staff, and even putting the DJ in the barn loft! With all of the logistic planning really there was no detail overlooked. Each vendor had to drive between 100-200 miles to get there. Special details romanced the property and made the day extra special. Tim, the groom, flew out an extra week early to prep, which included building the houpa and ceremony benches, spray painting the ranch symbol for road signs and organizing shuttles to transport guests from their lodging to the venue. In addition to this, the dinner menu included lamb, right from the property. Tim also bought salmon in Alaska and provided the caterers with the salmon as well.
I designed the invites to fit their theme and style and also incorporated this look to their welcome tote bags, which included several Oregon based goodies and literature. Their escort cards were mole-skin type small notebooks with each guest’s name written in modern calligraphy. Wrapped around the notebooks was “a love so write” as a nod to Tim’s profession as a writer. The place cards were feather crayons with each guests’ name written elegantly. The dinner napkins, keeping with the theme, were folded like envelopes.
All of the flowers were arranged by Lily’s mother. She flew into Portland and stopped at the flower market the week of the wedding before driving the 3 additional hours south. She is a retired florist so she knew what she was doing. Everything turned out beautiful!
Lily’s dress was designed exclusively for her by Prada. I’m sure it helps that Lily works for Prada and has some serious connections! It was a two piece dress made from the softest material I’ve ever felt and fit her like a glove. This special day took a team to pull off but is one of the most memorable and special events I’ve been a part of. Truly a passion project!
