Bouquet Breakdown: Organic + Elegant Historic Home Wedding

If you’re a hopeless romantic (and, really, aren’t we all?!), then I know you were already swooning for last week’s Organic + Elegant Historic Home Wedding — and particularly weak in the knees for the black and blush anemone, peony, and jasmine stunner, crafted by Maxine Owens of The Southern Table. Thankfully, Maxine was kind enough to share all the pretty details with us, so read on to get the scoop!

From Maxine Owens…. Our design process starts with really getting to know and understand the key element in the event: The Bride!  We love spending time with our brides and couples to get to know them as people, who they are, and what they want their guests to experience and feel at their wedding.  There are the basics, like colors, types of flowers they like, but we’re really interested in finding out what elements are special to them and what makes them unique as a couple.  Creating a custom design that helps them express themselves and share that with their guests is our ultimate goal.

Upon meeting Sara, we immediately fell in love with her overall vision for her wedding.  Together with Birds of A Feather Events, we created a dreamy floral concept for a classic garden look focusing on the natural elegance of whites, creams, and greens with pops of delicate blush.  When designing, are alway inspired by our brides’ wedding venues and why they select them.  Sara is a librarian and opted for an historic mansion with large, mature trees and lush green courtyards.  The stately house features influences of English Georgian and French Renaissance styling.  We aimed to continue this aesthetic through our choices of floral in order to create a consistent and seamless design.

With her neutral color palette, we combined soft, delicate blooms such as peonies, sweet pea, and garden roses with bold dark pops of black scabiosa and black and white anemones for definition.  Since Sara loved a garden feel, we combined these blooms with different textured greenery.  Camelia, gunni eucalyptus, spirea, and clematis foliage are some of my favorite greens to use.  And we couldn’t resist a little bit of trailing vine, so we definitely needed the gorgeous blush and white jasmine as an accent.  Putting these elements together in a loose, organic composition helped create that timeless garden feel she was looking for.  We accented the bouquet with hand-dyed blush and ivory silk ribbon from Froufrou Chic as a final romantic, feminine touch.  And thank you to Apryl Ann Photography for capturing Sara and her bouquet so perfectly!
