Bouquet Breakdown: Berry Colored Oahu Wedding

From the deep pink astilbe to the red charm peonies to the purple haze dahlias, this bouquet is an explosion of cheer. You might recognize it from this berry-colored Oahu wedding from The Great Romance Photo we featured at the start of 2015, which, needless to say, left us in a love-daze. After running into this beauty again in THE VAULT we called on the creator (and LBBer!) Passion Roots, to give us the breakdown.

From the designer, Shilhi Seibel, owner of Passion RootsI was able to work with our beautiful destination bride, Casey, through her event design company, A Good Affair (based out of Southern California). I am a floral event stylist working on Oahu, Hawaii and was honored to be chosen to create a boho-wild look for this stylish, chic bride. From the moment we had our first consultation meeting over the phone, Casey knew the tone and look that she wanted for her special day. There were yards of cream muslin cascades, asymmetrical geo gems, scatterings of vintage brass accents highlighting long rows of family style tables, and beautiful watercolor calligraphy art welcoming each guest setting, all set against a serene Hawaiian oceanfront display. I knew that this carefully curated vision was going to require exquisite blooms to accentuate the stunning backdrop.

We were commissioned to create wildly romantic, hap hazard, organic-free flowing arrangements with a stamp of sophistication and elegance written all over it. In reality, placing all the different colors and textures together was challenging, yet so inspiring as it pushed me as an artist, working with a multitude of different mediums. To be honest, in this industry mass production can come easy when we are hit with the daily grind of business. The research and time placed into choosing just the right complimenting bloom was a rewarding process.

For Casey’s bouquet, I concentrated on keeping her berry base with accents of red, merlot/wine and lavender tones to create a lush garden look with playful sophisticated features. This beautiful bouquet was truly made out of love.
