Colorful European Castle Wedding

Red and green don’t necessarily top my list of favorite wedding colors ever, but this European castle wedding is proving me wrong in the very best way. Set in the Slovak mountains, it’s an affair drenched in lavish greenery and vibrant hues by Moruska Design, and Peter & Veronika Photography worked their magic behind the lens. Go ahead and consider this gallery your new happy place.

From Bride…We wanted our wedding to have a magical spark. Like something just out of Lord of the Rings. The lavish greenery with carefully picked flowers, the glimmering candlelight, the mix of colors, smoke coming out of cocktails, and soft piano music all played out to create an unforgettable atmosphere for all of us.

My husband and I both love nature. Therefore we chose a place set amid Slovak mountains surrounded by forests and rivers. The castle itself is packed with ancient charm. It is a beautifully renovated renaissance hotel with a gothic ruin in the middle and we immediately fell in love with it. Because of the historical settings where stone is omnipresent, we wanted to warm up the courtyard and so-called “Stone galley” by a combination of marsala, blackberry, powder and cream tones underlined by deep green. The flower arrangements were intricate, yet somehow negligent at the same time.

We gathered our guests one day in advance for an informal barbeque party. This simple act made all the difference, as the day of the wedding the people already knew each other and could fully enjoy the wedding itself. We didn’t care much about local conventions. We skipped the obligatory folk music and invited Beatles revival group and a punk rock band instead. We wanted everything to be the way we imagined and though it took months of planning, it was absolutely worth it.
