When organizing weddings and events, failing to receive prompt RSVPs can put a serious wedge in the planning process. Without a legitimate headcount, it’s difficult to make financial, structural or logistical decisions without knowing how many guests you’ll be accommodating.
A simple way to avoid this is to think logically when timing your invite distribution. If you send out your invitations on a Wednesday, they are likely to be received on a Friday afternoon, when recipients will have more free time on their hands. Without the daily rush of work, school (for invitees with children) grocery shopping and so on, recipients are much more likely to spend five minutes completing and sending back their RSVP cards.
Although it’s a relatively simple adjustment to make, an understanding of guests’ typical behavioral patterns throughout the week can work wonders in facilitating more convenient planning on your end. So put yourself in their shoes. When would you be more likely to tackle a little chore you’ve been putting off- on a busy Monday between carpools and meetings, or on a lazy Sunday while flipping through football games?
