To say that Pomp & Circumstance planned one ah-mazing fête would be putting it lightly. Because not only is it a day infused with southern flair, but as evident through 31 Films – it’s also got glamour that goes for days. From the silhouette favor station, to the late night popsicle stand, every detail is downright enviable. And thanks to Mustard Seed Photography you can see it all in The Vault!
From Mustard Seed Photography…This summer, I photographed sweet Katherine and her groom Cory at a fabulous Texas farm called Chandelier Grove. The bride, an Auburn girl, and Corey, an Alabama rival – infused every inch of their glamorous wedding with unique organic southern touches! From their custom monogram etched into the mirror behind their cake, to their head table made from reclaimed farm wood covered by a gorgeous floral hydrangea garland runner and paired with tufted loveseat for the couple to sit at! Above the table, stunning vintage chandeliers hanging from the re-built Canadian barn that is Chandelier Grove (their venue and one of the prettiest in the Houston area)! Best of all – a “Silhouette Station” where an artist was on the spot to cut handmade silhouette’s of guests (to take with them as a wedding favor). They also brought a little bit of Alabama to Texas by bringing Steel City Pops in to cater a late night snack with a popsicle stand for guests to enjoy!
Perhaps one of my favorite parts of their wedding was how they incorporated a bit of their Auburn/Alabama rivalry into the wedding by including pictures from their engagement session (where they are each wearing their beloved jerseys) around the Groom’s cake, among with two calligraphy prints that said “War Eagle” and “Roll Tide”. It was the perfect touch to bring this sweet couple’s love story straight to the wedding! From The Bride…My desire for our wedding was for guests to walk into the venue and feel that same peace and joy that I have always felt throughout my relationship with Cory. Our relationship has been very organic, and our love has felt so incredibly pure and never forced or fake. Because of this, I chose to use all white flowers with touches of organic greenery. We got married outside among the tall pecan trees, with a twelve foot wooden cross covered in florals at the end of the aisle.
Cory and I have both been blessed with a great group of friends, which was the reason for our very large 30-person wedding party. I wanted each groomsmen and bridesmaid to feel just as important as the next, which is why I chose to have one long head table that sat in the very middle of the venue. This head table was made of reclaimed wood farm tables, and one long piece of hydrangea garland. The flowers were one of the most important, and fun things to me about the design process. Although I wanted the wedding to have an organic, peaceful feel… I also wanted the wedding to represent the classy, glamorous South. By bringing in chandeliers and all gold accents I felt that the atmosphere perfectly represented just that!
When thinking of something fun for the guests to take part in at the reception, I wanted to do something different than the typical photo booth. I had the idea to do a “Silhouette Station”. We hired a Silhouette artist named Cindi Rose who was able to cut silhouettes of our guests in around two minutes. I created a seating area for Cindi with an old reclaimed mantle I brought from home and two tufted chairs. Cindi was incredibly talented, and the silhouettes served as a fun party favor for the guests to take home and always have as a memory.
Another element I wanted to include was something that would be unique to Cory’s Birmingham background. One of our favorite places in Birmingham is a popsicle shop named Steel City Pops. I was able to have a popsicle stand brought in from their newest Dallas location to take the place of a “late night” snack. Steel City Pops served four of our favorite flavors, and they were a hit from the children at the wedding to the grandparents — we even ate them in our send off car.
Lastly, I couldn’t get married without incorporating our Auburn/Alabama rivalry. Part of our engagement pictures included Cory and I wearing an Alabama and Auburn jersey, and these pictures were placed around his groom’s cake, along with two calligraphy prints that said “War Eagle” and “Roll Tide”. Everything ran so incredibly smoothly on our wedding day, from the makeup and hair in the morning to dancing away with the band at night, and it was truly the BEST day of our lives.
