As someone who recently said “I do,” I’m well aware of the weight of wedding thank you notes. I’m eager to put my words of gratitude in each and every little note card and in doing so, it’s taking me longer than expected. So receiving these helpful hints from Mekala Tinnin of Tie That Binds is a saving grace and I can now dive into the pile of (pretty) paper and express my thanks with ease and excitement.
1. Keep It Short and Simple
Your guest doesn’t need a novel detailing everything you loved about that monogrammed hand towel. A few sentences is perfectly adequate.
2. Break It Down
If you’re overwhelmed by the amount of cards you need to write, break it out into manageable amounts per day. Tackle 10 notes per evening and reward yourself with an episode of your favorite show or a glass of wine.
3. Don’t Do It Alone
You married another person on the wedding day, and it’s perfectly reasonable for them to compose half of the thank you cards.
4. Simplify the Steps
Invest in a return address stamp or labels. You’ll be doing enough writing as it is – eliminating one more step makes a huge difference!
5. Variety of Gratitude
If you’re struggling with writer’s block or need more content for your card, thank your guests for attending the wedding. Thank you cards don’t need to just be about gifts. Take this opportunity to express your appreciation for the time and travel your guests invested in to be a part of your special day.
6. It’s Never Too Late
It’s never too late to say thanks, even if it’s been a year. Or two! If anything else, your guest will be happy to hear you’ve remembered their attendance, or think of them when their gift comes in handy.
